Best Bollywood Celeb as a TV Show Host?

A lot of Bollywood celebs are turning to the small screen either to increase their star power or to revive their sagging careers. Here's a List of the most prominent shows on TV. Who among the following is your personal Favorite and Who according to you is the worst. Add names if i left out someone.

The Post is about Hosts and not judges - so don't come up with names like Madhuri, Rani, Karisma, etc.

Salman Khan: The Darling of the masses, Salman made a very successful debut on the Indian Television Screen with the show ‘Dus ka Dum’ with its first two seasons. Almost all his friends made special appearances on the show to show their support to this superstar. But Salman’s major success as a host came when the show ‘Bigg Boss- Season 4’ got very high TRPs and they are considering him to host its next season too.

Karan Johar: Probably the most scandalous show ever, Koffee with Karan is Karan Johar’s brainchild. Known for his impeccable sense of humor, wit and sarcasm, Karan managed to give the tabloids enough fodder to spice up their front pages with the catfights and celebs taking digs at each other on his show. So we have Priyanka and Kareena making nasty comments at each other and Sonam and Deepika ganging up against poor Ranbir Kapoor. After 3 successful seasons, Koffee with Karan is a Brand in itself.

Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh Bachchan was clearly not in his best phase of Life or career when ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ happened to him in 2000. He was going through a financial crunch, but this show proved to be his best bet. The first season of the show was a huge hit with him being paid a whopping amount for the next one. He is back as the host for the show after being replaced by SRK in its Third season. He also hosted Bigg Boss-Season 3.

Akshay Kumar: Known for his action hero image, Fear Factor India choosing Akshay Kumar as their host for their show, Khatron ke Khiladi, came as no surprise. The first two seasons of the show did very well and then later Priyanka Chopra replaced him in the third. In the mean time, Akshay also hosted Master Chef India which turned out to be a dud. Now, he is back to reclaim his title of 'Khiladi Kumar' as he is once again hosting KKK season 4.

Preity Zinta: The latest entrant, Priety’s show ‘Guiness World Records: Ab India Todega’ started off at a very high note with Good TRPs. But gradually, the show lost its charm.

Priyanka Chopra: She replaced Akshay Kumar on the show KKK and hosted its third season. The show didn’t get the expected TRPs or the response and probably that’s why she is replaced with Akshay Kumar again in its Fourth season.

Shahrukh Khan: Shahrukh Khan quite didn’t impress everyone as a TV Host, as all the 3 shows he has hosted for so far, didn’t turn out as expected. He debuted with KBC- Season 4, replacing Big B, but the show didn’t garner the same response as one would have expected to (probably because it was difficult to fill in Big B’s shoes). The performance of ‘Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez hai’ was below average and that of ‘Zor ka Jhatka’ was disastrous.

Farhan Akhtar: Farhan’s debut as a TV Host was rather forgettable, as his show ‘oye, it’s Friday’ performance was rather dismal.

Abhishek Bachchan: Probably the worst show ever, Abhishek as the Host of the game show ‘Bingo’ was bad and so was the show. The only advice to him is that please think 10 times before you sign in for such a show.

Madhuri-Ash's Dola re vs Madhuri-Lolo's Dance of Envy

The very talented Madhuri Dixit has many hit dance numbers to her credit. Not only has she given hit solos but also hits with other leading actresses. Here are the 2 much talked about dance numbers of Madhuri Dixit - Dola re from Devdas and Dance of Envy from DTPH. One was with the beautiful Aishwarya where they danced to classical beats and the other one is a very modern number with Karishma Kapoor being choreographed by Shiamak Davar.

Ra.one's ideas lifted from Robot and other Superhero films?

The first 30 second trailer of the much awaited RA.One was released today, but it opened to rather mixed reactions. I found some obvious similarities between many Superhero films and this one. Of all the movies, it seems to have been influenced by the Rajni-Ash starrer 'Robot' (Endhiran) the most.

Even months before, media had come out with stories that RA.one is a mishmash of Robot and Toonpur Ka Superhero. The media was also the first to spot the stark similarities between the posters of Ra.one and Robot. If you weren't updated on these stories before, click here

Check this out.

In the pictures below, the top image is from RA.one and the below one from Robot. I'm not making any judgements here but this looks very, very similar. What do you think?

G.one even wears contacts like Chitti!

Is the media to blame on the PC - Bebo war?

Lets face this!. Who is not tired of the Bebo -PC war on who thinks who is an actress and who is not. I decided to do some research on this and I have come to the conclusion that its the media who is creating the rift between the two.

On Koffee with Karan season 3, Kareena clearly mentions if there is "act" in actress, then its Priyanka Chopra .Obviously she means Priyanka Chopra can act. Here is a video for reference. Please skip to 1:40 for Kareena's remark

Next we hear, the media asks Priyanka Chopra on what she thinks of Kareena not thinking of her as an actress.

Skip to 1:19 of this video

Next we see Kareena again mentioning that she thinks Priyanka is a wonderful actress in a Zoom interview from 2 days back. Skip to 4:44 to hear Kareena's remark

It is very clear that the media is playing the circus here. I dont think Kareena ever said she doesnt think Priyanka is an actress. Do you blame the media for creating this Bebo-PC war?

Silly Fun Videos! Question is which one you like better?

Breaking the Guinness record - the new trend in Bollywood?

Breaking the Guinness record seems to be the new trend that has hit Bollywood. In a span of 1 weeks, i got to read about Bollywood celebs trying to break 3 Guinness records.

1) Munni Badnaam Hui broke the Guinness record for the largest Bollywood Dance class in Melbourne on Munni Badnaam Hui - cheered by Munni Malaika herself.

2) Gillette India organized an event, which they claimed it to be world’s largest shaving lesson at Ansal Plaza on Friday, where Arjun Rampal and Neha Dhupia , gave shaving lessons to nearly 75 couples.

3) Terence Lewis attempts to outdo a Chinese national's Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of people choreographed in the shortest time frame

I am sure there will be more to follow. What do you folks think of this trend?. Is this a cheesy tactic to get attention?

How about we at Pinkvilla create a world record for the maximum number of people blogging on Bollywood at the same time? we can all register and start blogging away... what say?

Did Deepika do justice to Zeenat Aman in Dum Maro Dum?

Deepika padukone doing an item number in 'dum maro dum' and zeenat aman's song from 'hare krishna hare ram'

Aamir Khan - Number 1 Actor yet not a huge fan following

Aamir Khan is the number 1 actor of Bollywood today. As per BoxofficeIndia, he is ranked #1 in india and #2 overseas.

He has proved himself as an actor. His movies spread a message. There is no doubt that he is #1 today.

But unlike other superstars he doesnt have a huge fan following. By fan following I mean the fanatics who go to watch his movie come rain or shine. In my opinion, you need to have these fanatics to make you super successful. Take for example the case of Rajnikanth. His fans watch his movie even if the movies makes no sense. He has a very huge fan following and these fanatics are the ones who throng the theatres and make the cash register ringing.

Salman Khan has them, SRK has them, but Aamir Khan is missing on this front. Google him and you will not find an uptodate fanclub. SRK and Salman on the other hand have way too many fanclubs.

What do you think is the reason for this?. Is it because he is not flamboyant or glamorous?.

Lets discuss the matter without bashing the otherstars.

Deepika with Ranbir or Siddharth?

The Oscars are here and as we gear up for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, find out how much you know about this prestigious ceremony.

Did You Know How The Statuette Got The Name Oscar?
The famous golden statuette got its popular moniker 'Oscar' when Academy librarian Margaret Herrick said that the statue resembled her Uncle Oscar. Before that, people used to call it 'the golden trophy' and the 'iron man'.
During the second World war, due to the scarcity of metal, plaster Oscars were given out to winners and later when the war got over, they got it replaced with the original metal ones.

Is this the end of Abhishek Bachchan's career?

In a career spanning a decade, Abhishek has starred in close to 50 films (Source : Wikipedia) which includes solo films, multi-starrers and about a dozen or so special appearances

Out of which, roughly 40 plus films were commerical flops! And in the remaning 10 or so films which had a decent run at the box-office, almost half of them were multi-starrers

Abhishek has had just two solo hits so far. Bunty aur Babli and Guru. Out of 50 films in a period of 10 years, just two films that achieved commerical success

Unfortunately, despite being a decent film, KHJJK also seems to be a commerical disaster, the second one for Abhishek this year, followed by Raavan!

Abhishek has proved to be a good actor many times, but his potential as a star in his own right has always been a big, huge question mark.

So my topic of debate is, has Abhishek Bachchan's career come to an end?

Or more interestingly, did he ever have a career in the first place?

Or was it just Paa's second name that carried him this far?

Would any other actor in his place (especially an outsider) have got so many oppourtunities to prove himself the way Abhishek got?

In time, will Abhishek be remembered as a good actor, a flop actor, a middle-rung star or be forgotton completely, having made close to nil impact on bollywood during his era? Or remembered just for being Amitabh Bachchan's son and Aishwarya Rai's husband?

In formals: Sonam Kapoor or Preity Zinta?

Sonam Kapoor or Preity Zinta, who according to you wore the suit better ?.
They both look super gorgeous.I am not digging sonam's earrings and preity's sunglasses so both for me and you?
