Tony Moly Dr. Tony AC Control Bubble Foaming Cleanser

You probably heard of Tony Moly, especially if you’re aKorean cosmetics and skincare addict! Just few weeks ago, I received my firstever membership card from Tony Moly and I must say, it is far better than themembership card from Etude House. I did bought few products from their store, Iwill do a separate blog posts for each products.

For now, I would like to do a review on Tony Moly Dr. TonyAC Control Bubble Foaming Cleanser! Woo, Title palang, pang description na! LOL! Anyway, this one I didn’t get from Tony Moly Boutiques, that’s why I didn’t receivedextra points for this.

 Tony moly says,
A cleansing bubble foam that removes makeup, as well asimpurities of the pores

The packaging is really good as it comes in a pump so itwill be easier to dispense the product.  Ihaven’t tried anything like this before(I mean, the bubble foam as cleanser) that is why I was really excited when Ifirst tried it out. I’m a fan of facial washes with lots of foam and bubbles init. Maybe because I think that facial washes that form bubbles are much betterin removing makeup/ dirt. (That’s just me!) Although, in reality it does notreally guarantee that more bubbles equals amazing cleansing power.
Going back tothe packaging, look how cool is the pump. Have you seen anything like thisbefore? Well, maybe you do but I haven’t. I know this is no big deal but  sometimes it is nice to see what’s inside apump. (Duh! Of course I know there’s a spring in it, just like click pens, LOL,but I just think transparent pump looks cooler than the typical white pumps!)

Moving on the thing I’m really bad at... describing the scent.*Sniff sniff*  Oh my goodness. I can’tdescribe the smell. I was about to write, it smells like bubbles then I realized,“Do bubbles have scent?” But really,it reminds me alot of bubbles. It remindsme back when I still do wash my clothes during my not-so-busy days. That smell!LOL! See, this is why I hate describing smell because I don’t know if you cantotally relate to me.haha! Anyway, let’s just leave that smell and keep it assimple as this, the smell is more like oceanic smell (if does makes sense) andsomething not really overpowering. It doesn’t smell like old granny oralcohol  or powder. So, in short, if you’resensitive with smell, I think you can tolerate the scent of this one.

Finally, the cleansing power! It is amazing!! I seriouslythink that it is a great facial cleanser. I normal hate products for face thatare too expensive but this really works. It will clean your face without dryingit! It can remove almost 95% of my FACE makeup, excluding mascara and eyeliner.I still use a separate eye makeup remover just so you know.

PROS:
-Comes in a pump! More convenient and hygienic
-A little goes a long way! 1-2 pumps is enough to wash mywhole face with makeup
- Great cleansing power!

CONS
-Expensive(but hey, it’s a Korean brand, what do you expect. They’re always pricier compared to drugstore and local brands)

Price: Php 498.00
Would I recommend: If you are willing to spend that amount for facial wash, then, I recommend it. In fairness, atleast it is alot cheaper than TBS Natrulift Facial Wash. :)

Welcome RAISA!

I got a request from Raisa to feature her newly openedonline shop. Raisa is my classmate way back my highschool years. Honestly, we’renot “super” close since we have a different group of friends. Anyway, Ifollowed her on twitter and was surprised to know that she likes makeup alot!We tweeted each other and I encouraged her to do her blog also (since I told her that I have a blog)
And Guess what! Just an hour ago, she tweeted me  “@eloisa_co20 finally have my first ever post!iamraisa.blogspot.com.”

Yay congrats Raisa! She already made 2 blog posts about makeupbrushes (unbranded brushes and Marionnaud brushes) You girls should check out her blog: iamraisa.blogspot.com

Moving on, aside from her NEW Blog, Raisa has a new onlinestore too. She is doing pre-order stuff from Nyx Cosmetics. The prices are reallyreasonable! Other than that she is also selling Mary Kay products.

Visit her store by clicking the picture below. Kindly like her page too, it never hurts to like someone's page right? It's now the modern way to support someone instead of saying "Go Raisa" but well, ofcourse it would be better to do both :))
Oh la la! Ganito naba ang new trend? Maybe I should wear the same style on my lips? Bagay kaya? LOL! Pero mas bagay if I'll do it in my eyes. :)))

My most recent haul

No haul posts for 3 months?! Sorry! Although, I did getmyself few stuff those months but wasn’t able to do a post because I amobviously busy! I bought alot of different skincare stuff (because my skin isgetting worse!) and few makeup things. Plus, I also got myself a new cellphone!
Darn it. Forgot to take a pic. This picture was taken from Yugatech.com
Yipee! Although it is just a blackberry curve since I can’t afford to buyexpensive cellphones. Maybe, someday?!

Anyway, I did a little shopping last Friday (last day of my1st semester) and I decided to share it with you.

I went to Etude House mainly because some of my fans infacebook requested Etude House as additional prizes for my giveaway. As I wasbrowsing around, I was like, “Omg, i don’t have enough money to buy 2 petitedarling lipstick” since 1 will costs me Php 278. My actual budget for EtudeHouse for that day is only Php 1,000 (kasi yuuungg cellphone eee, wala na kong pera wahaha!) but I spentmore than my budget. I spent like php 1, 200+ (for EH alone) I guess so Iwasn’t able to buy 2 lipsticks. Pls don’t kill me my readers, I will try to addsomething for package 5 promise! EH gave me a mask as a freebie for my purchase.

Then I went lookingfor Elf duo Blush and Bronzer but they’re not available anywhere. I dunno why.I even asked my sister to look for blush and bronzer on Greenbelt but it is outof stock too. Why oh why?

The two elf in the picture is a blush in peachy keen and aneyebrow kit. I already did a review on eyebrow kit, and it was actually my firstever blog post! Wow! For the blush, this reminds me alot of Ever Bilena inBrown. I will do a review on the blush soooon!

During that day also, I bought a back case for my cellphone kasi I'm the most careless person! (Kaya tuloy nanakawan LOL!)

Okay, I'm not a fan of ANGRY BIRDS! Honestly, I was not happy with this case. I was looking for a girl-y looking backcase and I saw something with Gold design at the store. I was about to buy that when my boyfriend stopped me from buying it. Then, he told me to buy this one instead. After a little talk, I decided to give in. Okay, ikaw na! Ikaw na panalo. LOL! When I came home, I was really disappointed and promised that I won't ever listened to him again. HAHAH! Just kidding! In fairness, the case wasn't bad at all, I just don't like the color. That's all. :) Btw, I got it in SM Manila at Cellboy for Php 350.00.

This next thing, I did  not purchased that day but I was just happy to share it with you because..... it is PURPLE! LOL! Purple is 2nd most favorite color *next to pink*

I purchased this bag from my classmate for Php 800. It is not an original Jansport bag but I swear, the color is very beautiful in reality! It wasn't a plain purple color. I don't know how to explain it but it is a purple with blue sheen to it. Very pretty. Plus, it's fun wearing the same bag with my College best buddies. Astig lang pag magkakasama kami ;p

What else do I need to share with you? I think that's all Watch out for my next reviews probably today or tomorror or the day after tomorrow ;p

Oh please please don't forget to join my giveaway contest!IT WILL END ON OCT 25 SO PLEASE HURRY AND JOIN

UNTIL THEN!
Kisses and huggsss!

Mary Kay TimeWise Matte Liquid Foundation

Hi Lovelies! Woo, finally it’s sembreak! You know what itmeans, more time to do reviews. Yay! Anyway, I listed all the things I need todo reviews on, then I was surprised that I just listed 30+ products to bereviewed. What the heck! I blame my school works for this... just kidding. Iknow, school should be the priority of every students right? Oh well, thisreview is a sponsored review from Jhia of Red Jhelli Shop. I actually told youabout this before in this post.

In my post before about Mary Kay concealer, you see how Iraved about that product. It works well in covering my acne marks. Justrecently, I  had a really bad breakout (iwill post a separate review) due to stress from school. I’m on the process ofhealing right now (finally!) but it leaves me with ugly pimple marks on myface. So even if I want to wear less makeup, I couldn’t because I can’t go outwith all those marks on my face! I swear, this is the first time I felt reallyembarrassed on how I looked like. Now, I understand when people says pimpleslower your self-confidence! I’ve never really knew how it feels until recently.

Good thing I had this foundation. If you’re interested on howit works for me, keep reading!

Mary Kay says,
“Combination to Oily Skin. Buildable coverage. Suitable forsensitive skin. Oil free and non-comedogenic”
A matte finish, oil-controlling foundation, formulated tofight the signs of ageing with a patented blend of collagen-building peptidesand vitamin E, an anti-oxidant that helps stressors. Visibly reduces theappearance of fine lines, wrinklesand imperfections for a perfectly flawlessfinish.
(Note: This foundation is matte-finish. It will works forpeople with oily to combination skin. If you have a flaky-dry skin, try theother variant which is the luminious wear)

I’m never a huge fan of liquid foundations just because Iprefer wearing BB Creams. However, I’ve tried full sizes liquid foundations from brandslike Revlon, Ever Bilena and Maybelline and some samples from Laneige and TheFaceshop. Atleast I have a little background about Liquid foundations.

Packaging:

This comes in a squeeze tube packaging which is I think notappropriate for the consistency of the product. The consistency of thisfoundation is liquidy and sometimes, the product goes on the cap making yourfoundation looks very dirty.

Plus, I’m a huge fan of pump tubes since it ismore hygienic and less hassle compared to squeeze tubes.

Color/ Formulation/consistency/finish:

This foundation is available in wide range of color! I gotmyself Beige2 just because the concealer I got is in Beige2 too. However, thisis slightly lighter than the concealer.

When I first swatch the two side by side (see the pic below in coverage), I was like, “Omg,this is lighter. Maybe, this will look lighter on my face.” I was surprisedthat it blends on my skintone very well making it look brighter instead ofwhiter.

The consistency of this foundation, just like what i’ve saidearlier, is liquidy. (Beware: do not squeeze the packging too much or else, you’ll waste alot of products. Sayang naman, mahal pa naman! LOL!) thus, itdoes not feel heavy on my face.

One  big problem I hadbefore with my Revlon colorstay is it dries really fast. Since this is liquidy,I find it easier to work with. I can spread it with ease and blend it evenly.

Upon application, it gives me a luminious glow but driesinto matte finish, although it is not drying on me. You can definitely wear thiswith or without setting a powder but I prefer it with powder to make it lastslonger.

Coverage:

It is buildable. One application will not give you fullcoverage, add more for more coverage. Although, do not add too much productbecause it has the tendency to look cakey especially if your skin is notwell-moisturized. I advised to wear primer prior to application of thisfoundation.

I did a comparison of the coverage with my mary kayconcealer (as shown above)

I drew a red line using a permanent red pen.

See how well the coverage of the concealer? Ofcourse, thishas no match for the concealer. It is a concealer anyway, but considering thatthis is just a foundation, it does a great job in covering the red ink. I didapply two coat of the foundation though.

However, on my face, I rarely apply two coats of this. Justone layer is enough to cover atleast 70-80% of my pimple marks. I use concealerto cover the marks that my foundation can’t cover.

PROS
-easy to blend
-matte finish
-controls oil
-good staying power
-does not feel heavy on my face
-instantly brightens up my face
-wide range of colors
-coverage is buildable
CONS
-expensive (not new for Mary kay products)
- the packaging is not appropriate for the consistency
- will cake if I apply more than2 layers

Would I recommend it? Definitely! I would repurchase it again if this run out

What is Abstract Art

Merriam Webster: "Expressing a quality apart from the object..." It's a matter of painting not strictly what is seen, but rather the essence of the subject.

Some definitions of abstract art are offered as a work of art where the image is "not an accurate representation of the subject". I feel that definition is completely erroneous. The opposite is more true. Good abstract art should provide the viewer with a better "representation" of the subject, an image that better characterizes the subject, similar to the way poetry better describes thoughts or the way music helps to convey an emotion.

Abstract Art "Excalibur", Abstract art by Curtis Verdun

Caricatures and Abstract Art

Consider a caricaturist. What he is able to do is to take a face and rather than produce an image that is totally faithful to the original, recreate the image in a way that particular attributes of the person's face are presented more convincingly so that you get to see the real person. Abstract painters have the same goal - to describe what may not be readily perceived by the viewer.

Would we say a caricaturist can't draw? On the contrary, we can say that he has a heightened ability to present what he perceives in the person he is drawing. Abstract? Yes! Inaccurate? That depends on what you need to know. For example, a caricaturist doesn't attempt to tell you exactly what the surface of the subject's forehead is like. He has other things to say - that is, to "explain" the person's character.

In the same way words can help explain a photograph, since photographs indeed have their limitations, caricatures and likewise, abstract art, intend to go beyond a mere graphical display of the subject. They aim to reveal the true essence of the subject to the viewer.

Abstract Music?

Music can actually help us to understand abstract art. If you were to imagine "realistic music" being like a flute mimicking a bird, then much of history's great melodies would have to be considered as "abstract music". They are not copies of natural sounds. They are fabricated, original, artistic arrangements of sound, yet no one has trouble accepting them as art. Why then, should abstract paintings be so hard to accept? They are also artistic arrangements - just visual rather than aural.

Let's think about music further. Practically all the sound emanating from the many sources of music, from orchestras to rock bands, are new creations. Those sounds do not exist in nature. They don't even try to mimic naturally occurring sounds (usually)! They are completely the product of artistic invention. Now, using those new sounds, we have all the great melodies written over the ages. My point? If no one had ever created, from scratch, any new sounds other than to copy what they previously heard, we would not have great melodies, symphonies, sonatas, or even dramatic music scores for movies! We are surrounded by "abstract music" and "nonrepresentational music" - sounds that were musical inventions, and I stress again, not copies of what we hear in nature. Now, correlate that to the visual arts and you can better understand why we have so many styles, forms and movements of modern art, including abstract art.

Now, back to music. Why do we invent sounds? Why do we appreciate these new sounds? Because great melodies communicate the intangible - emotions, thoughts, moods. We can relate and we experience a higher level of being. Don't we all "get" music? Abstract art, even nonfigurative art, should likewise be fairly understandable. The goal of abstract art is to communicate the intangible, that which eludes the photograph and normal seeing. For the artist and the audience, there is a new form of communication.

Most people can appreciate realism in art. As the image veers away from a clean depiction of the subject, some people begin to get nervous. But as we see in music, reality doesn't define art and abstract art isn't simply a lack of realism. It's a heightened depiction of what the subject really is. The goal is to offer the viewer an image of what the subject is all about, which may not be readily apparent.

To an abstract artist, the real image of a subject is locked up in the visual code which is all that our physical eyes see. But, the natural visual world can't fully display character or emotion. The abstract painter seeks to construct, or perhaps reconstruct, an image that better describes the subject, with less emphasis on what is seen and more on the very essence of the subject.

Eye of the Beholder

Still, many feel that nonfigurative abstract art isn't "real" art. Consider this. If I faithfully painted just the pattern of the walls of the grand canyon, and showed it to someone who has never seen rock formations of any kind, can they experience an "artistic response"? Realize, now, that they would have to define it as nonobjective or abstract art, regardless of how beautiful it appeared, because to them it is unrecognizable as being any tangible object. So, in essence, a work of art can be both nonobjective and realistic, depending on the viewer's vantage point or his experience! The bottom line is that it is not only an association with the objects in a painting that provides the artistic experience and appreciation. It can also be simply the arrangement of color, textures and tone that supports the "artistic expression".

Rather than produce a faithful reproduction of what can be seen, the abstract artist focuses on what can be felt and tries to portray that. Music is written the same way.

Abstract Art: Creative Invention

Art, including abstract art, and musical creations serve a purpose and satisfies an inherent need in humans. We yearn to create and express ourselves artistically and we also seek the artistic experience provided by others. It is how we communicate on a deeper level. As I like to say, "art is the only means by which one soul can truly touch another."

We are inherently social creatures and as such we constantly seek ways to communicate creatively. Throughout our history we have been as much involved with art as we have been with food and survival. Well then, what is art? Is it merely a pretty picture? Or is it more? If we had to write a two word summary of the history of man's artistic journey, in music and in art, which of the following two statements would best fit?

  • Man copies
  • Man creates

When you consider the answer you realize the validity of all art forms and as well, all forms of music. And that abstract art, and yes, even nonobjective art, like it or not, have a rightful place in the world of art. Indeed, the basic tenet of abstract art is at the very core of what art itself is - creative invention.
