Tell All Your Friends is Taking Back Sunday's debut album. It spawned the singles "You're So Last Summer", "Great Romances of the 20th Century", "Timberwolves at New Jersey" and "Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team)" which had a Fight Club-inspired video.
This album is named after the lyrics in "Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team)."
The fourth track, "There's No 'I' in Team", was written in response to Brand New's song "Seventy Times 7" and contains some of the same lyrics: "Is that what you call tact? You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back; so let's end this call and end this conversation". It also shares lyrics with the song "Mix Tape" by Brand New, both containing the phrase "I've got a twenty dollar bill, that says..."
Each song articulates an opposing viewpoint regarding an amorous dispute between members of the two bands at the time. This was a minor episode in the artists' lives and they have since put it behind them; the bands and their members are now on good terms.
In a 2011 article featured in Alternative Press, bassist Shaun Cooper stated that the band was unhappy with "some of the choices that had been made without us", explaining how the introductions to the songs "Great Romances of the 20th Century" and "The Blue Channel" were changed from how they were initially intended by studio technicians without the band's input. The introductions to these songs as originally intended can be heard on The Tell All Your Friends Demo.
This album was performed live in its entirety at Bamboozle 2011 on April 30, 2011.

This was a follow-up album to Tell All Your Friends after the departure of John Nolan and Shaun Cooper back in 2002. First album to include past members Matthew Rubano (former bassist) and Fred Mascherino (former guitarist / vocalist).
The second single of the album "This Photograph is Proof (I Know You Know)" was featured in the Spider-Man 2 Soundtrack.
The name of the album derives from a lyric line of the song "Set Phasers to Stun".
An unreleased song of the band "Follow The Format" was leaked upon the internet, this possibly lead the band to not include the song on the album. A bonus track featured on import versions of the album was a re-recorded version of the previously released "Your Own Disaster".

Louder Now is the third album by American rock band, Taking Back Sunday, released on April 25, 2006 through Hollywood Records. The first single off the album is "MakeDamnSure". The song "Error Operator" has been released on the Fantastic Four 2005 film soundtrack, but has been revamped for Louder Now, resulting in the 2005 version becoming known as the 'F4 Edit'. Louder Now was leaked onto the internet in its entirety on April 19, 2006. Other countries' release dates are posted on the official Taking Back Sunday website. There were two other songs recorded during the Louder Now sessions, "Brooklyn (If You See Something, Say Something)" and "Sleep". "Brooklyn (If You See Something, Say Something)" is on the iTunes bonus version of Louder Now, and "Sleep" is on the "MakeDamnSure" UK single released May 22.
The title Louder Now comes from the song "What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?", as well as "Bonus Mosh Pt. II" on their second album Where You Want To Be.
Late 2006, a special edition CD/DVD was released entitled The Louder Now DVD: PartOne.
The album was voted the best of 2006 in Kerrang! magazine's end of year poll.
As of June 9, 2008, the album has sold 900,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Louder Now was the band's last release featuring Fred Mascherino as guitarist and co-lead vocalist.

Album art
The cover for the album began as a photograph the band found called 'New York City, 1963' by a New York photographer named Joel Meyerowitz.
The band had this to say: "We thought the irony of the speaker covering someone's persona, making something both more prominent yet more hidden at the same time was really interesting. So we called Mr. Meyerowitz and he was nice enough to let us share his photo so we could create our cover. Brad [Filip] did the rest and the result is 'Louder Now'."
There are two versions of the album artwork, one is the original album art cover, the other, is the one used to promote the single 'MakeDamnSure' on selected websites.

Special edition
On December 12, 2006 Taking Back Sunday released a special CD/DVD version on the album entitled The Louder Now DVD: PartOne. The DVD was the first from the group and the CD/DVD was packaged in a dual cover, featuring the original album cover and a new cover by Greg Watermann. The CD includes the original 11 tracks plus four live tracks.

DVD features
The DVD contains over 60 minutes of footage, documenting the making of the album, their world tour and also live and behind the scenes footage of a show at the Long Beach Arena. The band's website states that "...it has more behind the scenes footage than we've ever released before - about 60 minutes of the clowning around that you know and love."

Dual cover
Louder Now: PartOne had a dual cover, containing the original cover as well a new cover: a photo by Greg Watermann. The photo was taken during the band's Long Beach Area show in the summer of 2006, and was chosen because it contained all five band members.

New Again is the fourth studio album by American rock band Taking Back Sunday, released through Warner Bros. Records on June 1, 2009. It is the first and only album to include guitarist Matthew Fazzi after the departure of Fred Mascherino in late-2007. The album was produced by David Kahne, with a selection of tracks also produced by Matt Squire. Additional production on all tracks was done by Jamie Siegel.
Later on, the band would later announce that Fazzi and Rubano are no longer part of the band, they were not exactly kicked out, but rather "let go". Reason are that John Nolan and Shaun Cooper had reunited with the band only to release their eponymous LP Taking Back Sunday.

Release and promotion
The name of the album, New Again, was announced through the band's MySpace page on November 6, 2008. It was chosen because Adam Lazzara felt that they were a new band; he said, "We kicked around a bunch of different titles, but that one always remained the top of the list, and that’s because it really does feel like a new band." A song off of the album, "Carpathia", was made available as a free download on December 21, 2008 to anybody that purchased a Taking Back Sunday Holiday Card Pack. The band then released a 7" vinyl with "Carpathia" and a live version of "Catholic Knees" on April 18.
The album's first single, "Sink Into Me", was released on KROQ-FM on April 27, 2009. It was also released online via the iTunes Store on April 21. The music video for the first single premiered on May 11 on MTV.com, MTV2, MTVu and MTV Hits.

Artwork
The same day the band released the date the album would be out, they released the album artwork on their website.
In the past, the band have expressed that the number 152 always appears on the covers of their albums. On the Tell All Your Friends artwork it is simply written in the corner next to the album's title. On the artwork for Where You Want to Be, there is a sign saying "next exit 152 miles". On the Louder Now artwork, the price on the theater's sign is "$1.52", and on the New Again artwork, it has been hidden to a further extent. Hanging from the rear view mirror of the car are three fuzzy dice, showing the numbers 1, 5 and 2 respectively. Additionally, the CD design references the band's home of Nassau County, Long Island, with the Area code 516 appearing underneath the speedometer (which reads as 152 mph).

Special Edition
Taking Back Sunday offered a special edition package, which came with a small model car with decals, an air freshener, three dice, a 2GB USB storage key, and a [fake] drivers license featuring one of the band members. The CD itself included an additional "making of the album" DVD which also featured a track-by-track commentary from the band, as well as an autographed booklet.

Lyrical Themes
There are several recurring themes on the album, such as guns ("Cut Me Up Jenny", "Long Time Comin'"), houses ("Carpathia", "Everything Must Go"), and past drug use ("Lonely, Lonely", "Summer, Man" and "Where My Mouth Is"). The lyrics referencing houses are metaphoric of Adam Lazzara's relationship with his ex-fiancee, Chauntelle Dupree, guitarist of the band Eisley.
Several of the songs include references to a woman named Jenny. These songs are "Cut Me Up Jenny", "Winter Passing", and "Didn't See That Coming" (the name is substituted with the word "gently" in the final chorus in a similar way as "gently" alternates with the name in chorus of "Cut Me Up Jenny"). Adam Lazzara has stated that Jenny is no one in particular, but rather "whoever you want her to be".

Sales
New Again debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200, selling 48,000 copies in its first week in the United States. The album also debuted at number 31 on the Australian ARIA Charts. This is the only album by Taking Back Sunday to not have a certification from the RIAA.

Reception
New Again received generally favorable reviews from critics, acquiring an aggregrated metascore of 77% on review accumulator Metacritic. Scott Heisel of Alternative Press praised the record highly, stating that it "leaps forward as the best album of Taking Back Sunday's career to date". For Matthew Niner of Pop Matters, "they have produced another solid album that cements their reputation as one of the most genuinely affecting and consistent bands in the current scene". Alternative Press named it the number one album of the year 2009.
In April 2010, Adam Lazzara answered questions on his formspring, commenting that New Again "was a gigantic step backwards" and that he was "not fully satisfied with what [he] put out". In June 2010, Eddie Reyes answered a question on his formspring commenting that he doesn't hate New Again "its just my least favorite album. This album was the worst album we've ever created." John Nolan stated that this album was the worst Taking Back Sunday album the band created constructively. He went on to state that he also did like 'New Again' and his favorite song of the album was 'Everything Must Go'.

Taking Back Sunday is the eponymous album released through Warner Bros. Records on June 28, 2011. Produced by Eric Valentine. It's the first record with John Nolan and Shaun Cooper since Tell All Your Friends in 2002.

Background
On April 12, 2010, the Tell All Your Friends line-up of the band officially reunited, and announced plans to record a new album with Louder Now producer Eric Valentine.
Pre-production on the album began on August 17, 2010, in El Paso, Texas. Recording began in September 2010, with the band announcing several working titles at the time: "Sad Saviour", "Don't Lose Faith in Me", "You Were Right", "Money", "Best Places to Be a Mom" and "El Paso", which was described by Adam Lazzara as the heaviest rock track the band has ever written.
On November 16, 2010, Adam Lazzara has uploaded a demo version of "Best Places to Be a Mom" to his Soundcloud page. Around the same time, the band started performing the song live. On December 20, 2010, the band released a Christmas song entitled "Merry Christmas I Missed You So Much", with no word if the song is set to be a part of the upcoming album or not.
On January 10, 2011, the band has announced that recording was officially finished, and that the album is now in the mixing stage. On March 3, 2011, guitarist Eddie Reyes has revealed that 11 tracks are set to appear on the new album and that mixing was finished on 10 of the 11 songs already.
On March 10, 2011, it was announced that mastering of the album was finished. On March 28, 2011, the band released a new song entitled "El Paso" on their Youtube page. The lyric video for the song has revealed that the album will be self-titled and will be released in the summer of 2011. On March 30, 2011, Absolutepunk.net confirmed that the release date of the eponymous album would be on June 28, 2011.
On April 6, 2011, the band performed a special show at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey where they recorded footage for the upcoming music video for "El Paso", as well as debuting live a new song entitled "Faith (When I Let You Down)" (originally titled "Don't Lose Faith in Me").
The album version of "Best Places to Be a Mom" was made available for download through the "Tsunami Relief: Download to Donate" compilation with a donation of $10 or more.
On April 21, 2011, the band premiered the music video for "El Paso", directed by Thursday guitarist Steve Pedulla.
On May 3, 2011, the band released the first official single from the album - "Faith (When I Let You Down)", a song which the band debuted live already on the Hoboken, NJ show on April 6. The song was originally leaked online on April 29.
On June 21, 2011, the entire album was made available to stream for their BandPage app on their Facebook page. The day the album was made available to stream, they stated "Today is the day. Stay here for a bit won't you?". Every track was added by the hour as the day passed on.
On June 22, 2011, on the their official website, they posted new photos of the band currently working on a new music video for "Faith (When I Let You Down)". On July 8, 2011, Taking Back Sunday released the video for "Faith (When I Let You Down)".

Chart performance
Taking Back Sunday peaks at #17 for the week of July 10, 2011 on the Billboard 200 charts. Along with the record peaking at #4 for Billboard Rock Albums, #14 for Billboard Digital Albums, #3 for Billboard Alternative Albums, and #14 for Billboard Tastemaker Albums.

Reformation and Production
When Taking Back Sunday confirmed the return of the Tell All Your Friends members, John Nolan and Shaun Cooper, Adam Lazzara told MTV News in an interview, "Well, having John and Shaun back in the band has nothing to do with any of the old records -- it has everything to do with being happy and what's good for the groups dynamics," he said, adding "because if things kept going the way they were going, there wouldn't have been another record at all."
Dwelling upon the reformation of the two, he also stumbled upon telling of Fazzi and Rubano. "Every person you encounter in your life, you learn a little something different from them, and I think that's a cool thing. I had an opportunity to share this big part of me with these two guys, and they were both amazing," he said. "Fazzi turned me to a lot of different bands and he exposed me to a lot of new ideas. Rubano was one of the best bass players that I've ever seen. With him, a lot of times, I remember getting lost in what he was playing. Just thinking about the conversation we had, it makes my stomach knot up ... but it got to the point where the bad times started to outweigh the good." He then went on to tell of Cooper and Nolan reforming with the band. Explaining what Mark had in mind for the future of the band, and past tensions of Nolan and Lazzara. "Mark had some crazy ideas, and sometimes they're dead on. And one day he called me and was like, 'Hey, man, what do you think about us going back to our original lineup?' And I was like, 'Are you crazy? I haven't talked to John in, like, seven years. I don't know if he'd want to do it,' " Lazzara said. "But he kept bringing it up, and then I got a call from John, and when he called, it felt like no time had passed. It felt like we had just talked a few days ago. We didn't start off talking about making music together — we were getting reacquainted with what had been going on in our lives. Because for me, I genuinely missed his friendship, and same with Shaun." He then added, "So when it started, it was more like I was happy to have this person back in my life. And then as those conversations went on, we started to send music back and forth ... and we were realistic about it. We both thought, 'There's a great chance this might not work,' " he continued. "But then it got to the point where we were like, 'Oh, man, I think this could work.' So we got together down in Texas, right near Juarez, Mexico, and right when we walked into that room and strapped instruments on, and the songs were just there. And what would typically take Taking Back Sunday six months to do we did in a week."
When on the road for a quite a while, the band had confirmed that they will be back in the studio to record what has become an eponymous alternative rock album. Produced by Eric Valentine.
"El Paso", the first track of the album was as Adam has said to be, "probably the most heaviest rock song we've ever written." adding "Once we got done with it, we ended up listening to it 15 or 16 times in a row, and were all kind of like, 'Holy shit'", he says. "When everybody's like 'Holy shit' about something, you're onto something. It's a total motorcycle-raging-down-the-highway kind of song."
"Sad Savior", the fourth track of the album, results in emotional, '50s-style, loose guitar work from Nolan, which is all the foundation for the song. It "gets really dirty" at the end, Lazzara says. "It's something that we've never done before, and I'm really proud of it," the singer explains. "There's a big thing I missed about John's guitar playing, especially coupled with Eddie."
"Money" which is later called "Money (Let It Go)", the sixth track off the album, which Nolan plays a major role for, "It really has this James Bond, kind of spy/surf-y vibe," says Lazzara. "It's really fuzzy, and John has a really cool surf-y solo"
"Don't Lose Your Faith In Me", which is later called "Faith (When I Let You Down)", marries a "huge, punishing" chorus with a gentler verse, what Lazzara feels for the song is a "roller coaster" to the vocalist.
"We haven't had a self-titled album, and going back to the original line-up, it seems appropriate," says Lazzara. "But who knows by the end of the recording process." The band had leaned forward to the name of the album to be self-titled and decided upon it.

Limited edition (Pre-order bundles)
On April 13, 2011, the band revealed the artwork and track listing's for the album. After this, the band then offered special pre-order limited edition bundles of the album; containing 3 "El Paso" session demo tracks and 3 "Eric Valentine" session demo tracks, with commentary tracks as well; the bundle also contained individual poster sleeves with handwritten lyrics written by Adam Lazzara. Each and every bundles were signed by the band. On June 13, 2011, the band had announced that the limited edition bundles were all sold out.

Reception
The album has been received as generally favorable since its release.
